In-Office & Online Therapy for Women

Atlanta Women’s Therapist and Counselor, Melissa Lester Olson, LCSW specializes in Women’s Issues, Trauma Resolution, Binge Eating and Emotional Eating Disorders, LGBTQ Issues, Coming Out Later in Life, Relationship Issues, Career Challenges, Depression, Anxiety and Stress.

Welcome.  My practice is a combination of talk therapy and body-focused therapies with a strong focus on mind-body connections and trauma resolution methods.  These include Meditation (Taoist) and Mindfulness, EFT Tapping, Hypnosis and other neurologically effective trauma resolution methods.  My work is deeply meaningful to me and I am committed to providing you with the best therapy experience possible.

Because the work I do incorporates body-focused approaches, as well as use of the unconscious, you will benefit from the most current and most effective therapies available.  Perhaps best of all, the skills we use together are skills you can also use on your own.

My own Meditation practice has helped me connect more deeply and more meaningfully with my Self and in relationship with others.  A simple meditation practice can change the way you experience your Self, and the way you interact with Others and the World around you.  And the “harder” it is for you to meditate in the beginning, the more you will benefit from this practice.  No special poses, props or clothes.  Just you.  And it is truly my privilege to share these practices with any woman who seeks a greater sense of connection and wholeness.

My extensive EFT Tapping Training has transformed my work as a Therapist & Counselor.  EFT is a rapid and effective trauma therapy.  It is also extremely well-researched and recommended by physicians, neurologists, pain management specialists, scholars, researchers, mental health providers, life coaches, body workers, sporting coaches and millions of lay-people.  Because EFT Tapping is relatively new in its current form (30 years or so) it remains unknown to some and a source of skepticism for others.  Ask questions, read the actual research (not someone’s opinion about the research), experience EFT Tapping with a trained practitioner and ask all of your questions.  I am an Advanced EFT Practitioner, a Trainer in Training, and the Founder of Tap Into Community / Tapping Works 501c3, a charitable and educational non-profit organization.  For more about Tap Into Community / Tapping Works 501c3, check us out as we build our new website.

I am also trained in Clinical Hypnosis by both The American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and the Anxiety and Stress Management Institute, and am an active member of The Georgia Hypnosis Society.  I use Hypnosis in my practice as an adjunct to other therapy approaches and we can discuss how Hypnosis can aid us in your work.  I do not use Hypnosis as a primary approach to therapy, but am happy to refer to you some highly skilled Hynotherapists in the metro Atlanta area.

Finally, I have training and experience in other highly effective and efficient trauma resolution methods.  It is my greatest joy to be able to offer you not just relief, but actual resolution of your distress – as quickly and effectively as possible.

My own Therapy, Meditation, Hypnosis and EFT journey of 25+ years is the “why” that gets me up in the morning.  Healing and wholeness is possible.  Your work is do-able.

On a more personal note, because of my own diverse cultural, religious and geographic background, and because my own family has been directly affected by chronic medical illness and disability, chronic mental illness, alcohol and drug abuse, and many other issues, it is important to me that I work with a wide range of women with a wide range of life experience.  This includes women of all shapes and sizes, cultures and religions, abilities and disabilities, ages and races, sexual orientations, and socioeconomic and occupational status.

So whether we are working together with online therapy or in-office therapy or a combination of the two, I want you to know that real transformation is possible.
